Church of God sues Sony Pictures for copyright Infringement

Typically, the biggest threat to the summer movie is a bad review. This year, however, it seems to be intellectual property.

In April, S. Victor Whitmill filed a lawsuit to block Warner Bros.’ May 26th release of the Hangover 2, which featured, without authorization, a tattoo that Whitmill had designed for and applied to boxer Mike Tyson’s face. Last week, the Church of God filed a lawsuit against Sony Worldwide Acquisitions claiming the comedy Salvation Boulevard  reproduces, in mirror image, the Church of God’s cross mark. Mary Mary take home best Gospel Award

During Sunday nights BET 2011 Awards, the Grammy-award winning duo Mary Mary nabbed the Best Gospel award. Contenders in the category included Byron Cage, Deitrick Haddon, Karen Clarck Sheard, and BeBe & CeCe Winans.

Since the release of the sister duo album, Something Big, it ranked No. 28 on R&B/Hip-Hop Album Charts on Billboards and No. 3 on the Gospel Album Chart as well as top spots on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Charts. Read the rest of this entry

Duggar Family Partners with Bible Translators to help Kids Learn the Bible

The Duggar family, featured on TLC’s hit reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting, has started a new partnership with the fastest growing Bible translation organization in the world. The Seed Company, founded by Wycliffe Bible Translators, announced Wednesday the partnership with the family, in which they will work together to teach families and children the story of the Bible with the goal of spreading God’s word around the world. Rapture predictor Harold Camping suffers stroke at 89 years old

Harold Camping, the Family Radio minister who inaccurately predicted that the world would experience Judgment Day last May 21, has suffered a stroke. Camping, the 89-year-old head of the Oakland-based evangelical media company, suffered a stroke on Thursday night after a radio broadcast and was taken to a local hospital, according to a message posted on a Family Radio-oriented Yahoo group by Charlie Menut, station manager of Family Radio affiliate WFME.
